Yellow Coneflower Seed, Ratibida pinnata, Gray Headed Coneflower for Native Gardens
Ratibida, or Gray Headed Coneflower, is a great perennial in naturalistic gardens. Gray Headed Coneflower is an easy care Great Plains Plant and should be grown more often in gardens. Yellow Coneflower can reach 4 feet tall when in bloom. Each plant is covered in yellow flowers that last for many weeks. The dark central cone is surrounded by yellow drooping petals. Yellow Coneflower is a perennial in zones 3-10.
Ratibida will bloom best if given at least 6 hours of sunlight. This plant can take the heat and drought once established. Prairie coneflower attracts birds and butterflies over a long bloom period. Ratibida is also valuable to native bees.
Gray Headed Coneflower is great for the middle of the border. The delicate wands of yellow flowers pair nicely with purple phlox and cosmos. Gray Headed Coneflower looks right at home in natural settings and cottage gardens. When the flowers are finished blooming the dark central cone turns grey as the seeds ripen. Goldfinches love the anise scented seeds! The flower stalks are delicate but the small birds are able to perch and eat the seeds.
Each packet contains a minimum of 45 seeds and comes with complete growing instructions.
