Mountainlily Farm Heirloom Seeds and Plants

I began my horticultural career in college in Athens, Georgia. My first nursery job was at an herb nursery in Jefferson Georgia. I am lucky to have worked for and learned from one of the smartest plant people I know. I was amazed by all the varieties of herbs. I couldn't believe how many different thymes and scented geraniums exsisted. There are so many great colors, textures and fragrances in the herb world. I began growing and using them in many of my garden design plans.I must admit that I grow many herbs purely for ornamental purposes.

Many of the plants and seeds I grow are old fashioned favorites. The plant industry is always striving to introduce the latest and greatest color of some new plant. I find I rely on many of the older varieties of perennials and shrubs. I love all the new color coneflowers but for sure fire hardiness you cannot beat the simple purple coneflower. I design and grow low maintenance gardens.I believe great gardens can be grown with little resources as long as the right plant for the right place is chosen. Many of the plants I offer are very drought tolerant once established. We all need to be aware of how much water we use. It is great to have a beautiful space but not at the expense of the planet. I also keep wildlife in mind. No, I do not let the deer roam wild through my cutting garden. I do try to plant for the birds, bees, and butterflies. Many plants in the herb family are great for bringing these much needed pollinators into the garden.

Mountainlily Farm is a licensed plant nursery in the Ozark Mountains. I am not currently open to the public. I garden using organic methods although I am not Certified Organic yet. I have been selling online in my Etsy shop-mountainlilyfarm for several years with great feedback.

I have worked in horticulture for over 25 years. I am happy to answer many of your garden questions. Follow me on Instagram to see more photos of my gardens.
