Velouette Cosmos blooms are reminiscent of rich velvet. Velouette is a great addition to cut flower arrangements and flower beds.The flowers of Velouette Cosmos have a complex coloring in wine, pink and cream. Many of the blooms have a darker stripe that looks like it has been painted over the lighter background. There is a lot of variety in individual flowers. A few of the blooms were solid but still a lovely, rich shade of maroon that looks like velvet. The plants of this variety were a little more delicate than regular Cosmos. This Cosmos variety did not require staking in full sun. Each seed packet contains at least 25 seeds from last summer's garden.
This annual cosmos can be grown in zones 3-10. Once the plants are established they are extremely drought tolerant. Deer will usually leave cosmos alone. Annual cosmos is also great to bring pollinators of all types into the garden. Complete growing instructions are included with each order.
