Variegated Solomon's Seal Polygonatum odoratum Plants Great Perennial Plant for Shade Gardens

  • $ 14.95

Variegated Solomon's Seal, Polygonatum odoratum is a stand out plant in shade gardens. Variegated Solomon's Seal looks great planted with ferns and hostas. The variegated foliage of Polygonatum really brightens up the shade garden. Plants are adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions and this is one of the toughest perennials I grow!

Variegated Solomon's Seal emerges in early spring and quickly grows to 2 feet tall. The foliage is edged in white variegation and the stems have a reddish tint. The leaf shape and growth habit of this plant adds a wonderful texture to the shade garden. The plants will form substantial clumps spreading through underground rhizomes. In my garden designs I use this as almost a small shrub. Solomon's Seal colonies add visual weight to the border and look great with the delicate texture of ferns. In late spring the plants are covered in small bell like flowers.

Solomon's Seal is hardy in zones 4-8. It prefers full to partial shade with regular deep watering. The deer seem to leave this plant alone although that might be different where you garden. Plants will be shipped bareroot. Sometimes the root pieces fall apart when dug. I will make sure there are at least 6 rhizomes per order.
