Dark Purple Opal Basil, Ocimum basilicum, is a lovely herb used in the garden or in the kitchen. Basil is one of the easiest herbs to start from seed. Dark Purple Opal Basil has deep coloring in the foliage and makes a colorful splash when used in summertime dishes. The leaves can be added to Italian dishes or used to make pesto. As you can see from the photos, Purple Basil is a welcome addition to ornamental plantings. The unexpected color and fragrance works well with summer annuals such as coleus and zinnias. The plants will grow best in full sun in well drained soil. Keep the flowers pinched off for a bushier, leafier plant.
Your seeds will come packaged in a simple brown kraft paper envelope. Complete growing instructions included with each order. All seeds are harvested and cleaned by hand. There may be small bits of chaff mixed in with the seeds. Each packet contains 35 seeds fresh from this year's crop.
