Sweet Basil Seeds, Large Leaf Basil- Great for Kitchen and Herb Gardens

Sweet Basil, Ocimum basilicum, is one of the most used culinary herbs. Large Leaf Basil is a must in kitchen and herb gardens. The aromatic leaves can be added to Italian dishes or used to make pesto. I start at least 10 plants and harvest a few leaves off each plant. This way I have a continual harvest throughout the growing season. The plants will grow best in full sun in well drained soil. Keep Basil flowers pinched off for a bushier, leafier plant. I let my plants flower at the end of the growing season. My basil plants were covered with bees in late fall. Most flowering herbs are a magnet for pollinators in search of nectar and pollen before winter.
