Maximilian Sunflower is a stand out perennial in sunny gardens. This large sunflower is native to much of the eastern US. Maximilian Sunflower is a tall, branching variety of native Helianthus. The plants will spread by rhizomes and form a thick colony after several years. I use this native sunflower behind my potting shed where it has some room to roam. It has filled in and makes a beautiful, natural wind break. Loads of small yellow approx. 2 inches across cover the stems in very late summer. Mostly deer resistant and drought resistant.
