Chinese Giant Orange Amaranth will grow to an impressive 6 feet tall. The full flower plumes are a tawny orange color and make a great addition to cut flower arrangements. I like to harvest the side shoots and use as a filler flower in informal arrangements. The towering plants are also impressive in the garden. Use Giant Orange Amaranth as a background plant. Like many Amaranth the foliage can be bothered by flea beetles when grown organically.
Amaranth will grow and bloom best in full sun. The stems are strong and the plants did not require staking in my garden. The plants are drought tolerant once established but will perform best with regular watering. Plant can grow 6-8 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. Amaranth flowers are also a wonderful addition to dried flower crafts.
