Amsonia tabernaemontana Seeds Arkansas Blue Star Willow Leaf Bluestar Native Plant Seeds

Amsonia tabrenaemontana is also known as Willow-Leaved Blue Star. It has flat leathery leaves and contains a milky sap. The clump forming plants can grow 2-3 feet tall. Light blue flower clusters appear in late April followed by pointed brown seed pods. The foliage turns a rich yellow in the fall. Flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. Deer seem to leave this perennial alone.

The habitat for this Ozark native plant is moist open woods or roadsides. I grow Amsonia in full sun and well drained soil. It can take dry conditions but will look nicer with regular watering. It is a very low maintenance plant. This is a great plant to use in naturalistic or prairie style plantings. Arkansas Blue Star is hardy in zones 4-8. Amsonia tabernaemontana was featured in the Regional Picks Oct. 2014 issue of Fine Gardening Magazine.
This listing is for 50 seeds fresh from this year's crop.
All seeds come with complete germination and growing instructions. Mountainlily Farm is a licensed plant nursery nestled in the Ozark Mountains. I garden without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Seeds are cleaned by hand and small natural bits of chaff may be present.
