Attar of Rose Scented Geranium Plant, Herb Garden Favorite, Great for Container Gardens
Attar of Rose Scented Geranium has long been grown for the perfume industry. The rich green foliage has a strong rose fragrance. The Attar of Rose geranium has a somewhat sprawling habit and small pink blooms. The main photograph is of my one year old stock plant. The scented pelargoniums are great used in pots or in the herb garden. I like to plant them along the pathways where the fragrance can be appreciated when it is brushed up against. The plant is organically grown in a 4" nursery container. Scented geraniums are fast growers and the plant tips may need to be trimmed before shipping.
The Attar of Rose scented geranium does have a somewhat sprawling habit. I let it weave through other cottage garden favorites in my herb garden. This fragrant pelargonium grows up to 1 1/2 foot tall. It does bear sporadic pink flowers in the summer. I treat scented pelargoniums as annuals here in my zone 6 garden. They are easy to pot up and bring indoors for the winter at the end of the growing season. Scented Geraniums are hardy in zone 10 and higher.
I grow this plant for it's ornamental value and fragrance. The leaves can be used in jellies and sugars. The leaves add wonderful fragrance to cut flower arrangements.
Mountainlilyfarm is a licensed plant nursery in the Ozark Mountains. I garden without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.
