Arkansas Blue Star Seeds Amsonia hubrichtii Threadleaf Bluestar

Amsonia hubrichtii also known as Arkansas Blue Star or Threadleaf Bluestar. Amsonia hubrichtii has delicate needle like foliage. Amsonia blooms in late spring/ early summer in my zone 6 garden. I grow this plant in my native garden behind the potting shed. I am a full time horticulturist and seem to miss getting photographs of any plants that bloom during my busy season!

Amsonia hubrichtii was named the perennial plant of the year in 2011. It is a hard working, low maintenance perennial in zones 5-9. This native plant brings multi season interest to beds and borders. Once flowering is over the foliage looks great all summer. In fall the foliage turns a wonderful golden yellow. This plant is a moderate grower and can reach 3 ft by 3ft. It can take several years to begin blooming.

The habitat for this Ozark native plant is moist open woods or roadsides. I grow Amsonia in full sun. It can take dry conditions but will look nicer with regular watering. It is a very low maintenance plant. This is a great plant to use in naturalistic or prairie style plantings. Amsonia hubrichtii looks great with Pink Muhly grass. This listing is for 50 seeds harvested fresh from this year's crop. Seeds are cleaned by  hand and small bits of chaff may be present.
