Tarahumara Sunflower White Seeded Sunflower Seeds Organic Flower Seeds Fresh From This Year's Crop.

This listing is for 25 seeds of the annual Tarahumara Sunflower. Tarahumara is a white seeded variety of sunflower. Seeds are collected fresh from this years harvest. This is an open pollinated heirloom sunflower. This heirloom sunflower is thought to be from Canadian Mennonites and later adopted by the Tarahumara tribe. The flowers are a rich golden yellow color with the classic sunflower form. The petals sometimes have a rumpled appearance. Tarahumara sunflower is tall and can grow 6-9 feet. The flower heads are 8-10 inches across. The seeds are mainly an ivory color with occasional stripes mixed in. Sunflowers are much loved by the bees and are a great way to bring pollinators to the garden. I always include a few in the vegetable garden.

Sunflowers are a great way to attract birds and bees to your garden. Sunflowers are easy to mix into vegetable garden beds. You can leave the plants standing to dry in the garden. Golden finches will flock to the large dried heads to devour the nutritious seeds. I cover seed heads I am collecting with paper bags to protect a few heads from the birds. If I'm tired of looking at the dried plants I cut the large heads off and hang them off the fence line with raffia. The birds will still find them!

All seeds come packed in  kraft paper envelopes. All orders come with complete, detailed growing instructions. Seeds are cleaned by hand and small natural bits of chaff may be present.
